Since 1984, I have been working diligently to protect the rights of Virginia's children. I began my career working as a prosecutor for the commonwealth of Virginia, and now I represent parents throughout Virginia who need a skilled Norfolk child support attorney.
I take the welfare of children very seriously, so I make every effort when negotiating and litigating child support issues and pursuing parents who do not comply with child support ordered by the courts.
Joseph C. Lindsey PC offers comprehensive initial case evaluations, so you can speak with a lawyer and understand your legal rights and options for resolution of your legal matter.
During my free initial legal consultations, I explain that Virginia child support is calculated using guidelines that are based on the income shares model. The presumption is that a child should receive the same proportion of parental income that would have been received by the child if the parents had not divorced. This calculation can vary according to factors such as whether child custody is limited to one parent or shared by both, because a parent with sole custody would incur significantly higher costs associated with the day-to-day care of the child.
