Sometimes, people who are first-time DUI offenders assume that they can avoid paying legal fees by just explaining their case to the judge. This can be a costly mistake, and depending on the circumstances, it could result in significant administrative and criminal DUI penalties, plus the expenses incurred that are related to a jail sentence, restitution and/or court-ordered participation in the Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP).
Joseph C. Lindsey PC offers comprehensive initial case evaluations, so you can understand your charges and legal rights.
If you are a first-time offender, a serial offender or a habitual offender facing DUI charges, I encourage you to contact me to take advantage of my offer of a free initial case evaluation. You need a skilled Virginia DUI lawyer to take charge of your case immediately, because delayed action could have a negative impact on your case. As a former prosecutor with almost 30 years of legal experience, I can explain the case-specific penalties you may be facing and begin creating a strong defense strategy to pursue a reduction or dismissal of charges. In some cases, I will consider a plea, but only if it is in your best interests, and I will accept it only after you have given me approval. I provide sound legal counsel, but my clients are always in control of their own cases.
Virginia Beach Multiple DUI Offenses Attorney Joseph C. Lindsey
In Virginia, people with multiple DUI offenses can be subject to immediate driver's license suspension, vehicle forfeiture, a harsh jail sentence and a hefty fine. A person with multiple DUI offenses would also be required to have an ignition interlock device installed on any car he or she drives. This device is attached to the car's dashboard, and the driver must use it and pass a breath test before the car will start. There are additional breath tests that are required periodically while the car is in use, and failure to pass a breath test will cause the car's horn to honk and the lights to flash on and off.
As an experienced Norfolk DUI defense attorney, I consider all Virginians who are facing DUI charges to be innocent until proven guilty. Regardless of the circumstances in your case, you will be treated with dignity and respect.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you.
